ASEAN Cancer Epidemiology and Prevention Research Group (ACEP) was established in 2017 as the first envisaged by Professor Supannee Promthet and specialists of cancer epidemiology in Faculty of Public Health and Faculty of Medicine, Khon Kaen University of Thailand, while some specialists from ASEAN countries, and others were included in the group as well, such as Malaysia, Indonesia, Laos PDR, Vietnam, and International Agency for Research in Cancer (IARC).

The objectives of ACEP research group are to facilitate researchers addressing cancer epidemiology and its prevention, to determine the magnitude of problems, including incidence, prevalence, mortality, and survival; and risk factors, prognostic factors of five types of common cancer in ASEAN countries. Furthermore, ACEP research group also play roles on developing ASEAN cancer network based on activities, for example, international conference, training, workshops, and student exchange, which  prominent keynotes and specialists from oversea countries were also collaborated , such as Taiwan, Japan, Korea, Italy, and USA.

Moreover, ACEP research group has taken a major role on the PhD program in Epidemiology and Biostatistics, Faculty of Public Health, Khon Kaen University of Thailand which includes several students from ASEAN countries, such as Laos, Vietnam, Indonesia, Malaysia, Myanmar, and Thailand, to study and training by using the cancer issues of their countries for developing the dissertation. However, even if cancer issues are the first paradigm of our research group for working, but other non-communicable diseases which related with cancers, for instance, diabetes mellitus and hypertension, are included for conducting as well.
